Sullivan County's Sheriff's Office had just taken in a dog from a victim of domestic violence. In this report, I got to follow around the dog, Lucky, as he greeted everyone. I also learned about how the department was using the dog to help other victims of domestic violence.
The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office has a new “Lucky” mascot. The dog is being used to raise awareness for domestic violence.
Officers say Lucky has helped to make the day brighter for victims and officers.
His previous owner was a domestic violence victim. The owner couldn't take care of lucky, so the sheriff's office took him in.
Det. Angie Lovegrove is taking care of Lucky.
"He loves to socialize,” she said. “They are very happy to see him. He helps to reduce stress. A lot of times, we see people on their worst days."
He has already made lots of friends
Lucky is currently being trained. Lovegrove hopes to eventually bring him to court to ease victims of domestic violence.
