In this report, I went to Science Hill High School's football stadium for ETSU's Olympic Day for kids. The kids were competing in gymnastics, track, rugby and more.
More than 500 kids gathered Friday morning to compete in ETSU’s fourth annual Olympic Day. It began with an opening ceremony and torch lighting.
Kids competed in events like sprinting, rugby and gymnastics. They came from several local summer camps.
"Olympic Day really is to expose young children to different sports," Director Meg Stone said.
She wants kids to experience sports that they normally wouldn’t. The children really enjoyed the opportunity to play.
"You get to go outside and do stuff, because usually, we're just at camp just sitting," participant Braxden Letcher said.
The ceremony was held at Science Hill's Kermit Tipton Stadium. Olympic Day is designed to promote teamwork and physical activity.
