A rare partnership is bringing a one-night only performance to the Tri-Cities.

The Barter Theatre and Symphony of the Mountains have announced the upcoming performance of “Chicago”. They made the announcement today at the Toy F. Reid Center in Kingsport.

The play will combine singing and acting from the Barter with a performance from the symphony.

"What we are doing here is bringing all the art forms together on one stage in one evening,” said Cornelia Laemmli Orth, music director symphony of the mountains. “That is so powerful that it just gives me chicken skin, goose bumps right now just to talk about it."

This will be the third play they have joined together to perform. They say this type of event is rare across the country.

“It’s so rare that this happens anywhere in the United States,” said Richard Rose, producing artistic director for the Barter. “You get an energy like no other.”

About 1,700 tickets will be available and are on sale now. The performance is scheduled for November 13.
