I pitched this story while interning at WCYB. Milligan College was hosting its first ever nursing camp for high school students. I and a videographer attended the parent presentation of what all the students learned. I also interviewed one of the future nurses about her experience.
Friday, students showed what they learned at Milligan College's first ever nursing camp.
Nearly 20 high schoolers from across the country came to see what it was like to be a nursing student.
"I'll be at Milligan in the fall, so I wanted to get more experience,” Massey Seabolt said. “(To see) if that is what I really wanted to do, to be a nurse, so when I heard about this, I really wanted to come."
During the week, the students learned how to check vital signs and even left with their CPR certification. They also met with actual nurses and toured a hospital.
The school also held digital media and musical theater camps this week. Next year, Milligan plans to add computer science and engineering.
