StampedeTV Graphics Package, 2021
I created these graphics for Milligan University's StampedeTV as a mostly from-the-ground-up refresh of the package I originally created in 2017. This package includes about four times as many presentation options compared to the original: 78 full screen templates, 20 stingers, nine lower thirds, plus easy-to-update election graphics and tickers for scores and headlines. The new design includes a chevron pattern that echoes the university logo introduced in 2020 and toned down animations to match industry trends toward calmer, less sensational newscasts. The templates are broken down into more pre-rendered parts than before to speed up the production process.
StampedeTV Graphics Package, 2017
I created these motion graphics using Adobe After Effects. The graphics were used beginning in February 2017 on Milligan College's StampedeTV broadcast. I updated the graphics in January 2018 with a new logo; the removal of drop shadows; and the additions of a breaking news open, a shorter news open option, and live boxes. The graphics are designed to match the Stampede's new website that launched in 2017, which I also built, and the official shade of orange used by the college. The graphics use a flat, simple, and clean design and are made to fit important text elements in the 4:3 center crop safe area, with design elements utilizing the full 16:9 safe area.
Milligan Stampede Online, 2017
In early 2017, I led the transition of the Milligan Stampede website from Wix to WordPress. I spent about a week building the website including writing HTML, PHP, and CSS code to customize the site template, design, mobile layout and to automate many site functions including beat pages, video thumbnails, team bios, contact forms, etc. I also installed the site on the Stampede's web host, setup automatic updates, updated name server information and wrote an instruction manual for future webmasters. I additionally created a spreadsheet and process for transferring content from the old website to the new one.
'We're In This Together' Image Campaign, 2017
This image campaign ran on Milligan College's StampedeTV beginning in 2017. The campaign highlights the Stampede's quality enterprise hard news reporting. Each promo spot focused on one story and how our reporting informed and improved life for the viewer. Being a small school of about 1,200, Milligan often promotes its strong community aspect. This campaign plays on that with the tagline, "We're in this together," promoting a connection between the reporters of the Stampede and the student body. Some of our enterprise journalism has included construction projects that never started, flaws in campus security plans and changes to graduation ceremonies that resulted in student backlash. Several of these stories resulted in positive changes on campus.
Warrior News Graphics Package, 2013
I created this graphics package for my high school's weekly student-produced newscast, which I founded and led my senior year. The animations were produced using Blender, and the still graphics were created in GIMP, both free open source programs, allowing all members of the team to work on graphics for the show. The broadcast was created in standard definition to match the school's closed circuit television system and available equipment.
Music Buffs Live Logo, 2015
This is the logo I designed for "Music Buffs Live", a live music show on WUMC. The show featured a full hour of live music each week performed by students at Milligan College. This logo was used in all advertising and promotion for the show online, on social media and on digital ads displayed on screens around campus.
WKIDNews.com, 2012
The WKID 6 website was redesigned in 2012. The new version includes a full archive of all WKID 6 stories as well as a live radar, temperatures for each of the three Tri-Cities, and WKID 6 Mobile was integrated into the site. The former WKID 6 Mobile was a separate site with a separate web address.
WUMC Digital Advertisements, 2015-2016
These are a few examples of digital advertisements that I created to promote WUMC, Milligan College's radio station. Various ads promoted WUMC's live stream, broadcast signal and various radio shows. These advertisements were posted on the online campus calendar and on screens before chapel and convocation as well as in the student union building. Heavy promotion at the beginning of the school year led to a successful increase in listenership.
