Summer Camp Keeps Kids Learning

This was one of two reports I created while interning at WCYB on the first day I was sent out with only a photographer. Hands On Museum in Johnson City was hosting a weeklong camp to teach kids science and have fun. They were definitely a wild bunch. In each of these stories, I wrote the story, conducted the interviews, and edited the video.

Hands On Museum in Johnson City is hosting a weeklong camp aimed at keeping kids active during the summer.

The camp features a wide variety of science experiments, art, and just plain fun.

Activities planned for the week include making silly putty, decorating hula hoops, tie-dye t-shirts, Mentos geysers, and air rockets.

“We want kids to have a memorable experience but also to learn and to keep their brains active during the summertime," Education Director Heather Watson said.

The camp is for ages 5 to 12 and costs between $100 and $200 depending on membership status.

Hands On Museum will be hosting another camp July 18-22.
