For this story I went with a videographer to see the regional project event for the United Way's Week of Caring. When we came back, I wrote and edited the story.

United Way chapters across the Tri-Cities are working together on the annual Week of Caring. That's when volunteers gather to work on projects with a wide variety of United Way supported organizations across the region.

56 volunteers kicked off the event this morning with their regional project at the Bristol Regional Counseling Center. Volunteers helped with painting, landscaping and pressure washing.

"We needed some landscaping work done and some project work done that we would not be able to perhaps afford or be able to budget without the assistance of the united way,” said Tim Perry, division director for children’s and youth services with Frontier Health.

United Way chapters will be working on local projects throughout the rest of the week.

“They might do an ice cream party with kids or they might do a landscaping project or painting,” Lisa Cofer, executive director with the United Way at Bristol, said. “It’s just a myriad of things.”
